Eleftheria Katsianou gave us through her cinematic glimpse an experience of city and habitation. Her participation in the group polymorphic action/exhibition "Entos: Kali Tyxi, Mapping Dourgouti with images and sound" under the Onassis Stegi Foundation, was for her and also for us an urban break, a different architectural and emotional liberation for Dourgouti. So, we got (re)acquainted with this part of Athens, that is not only the neighborhood of Onassis Cultural Centre of Arts but also a place that homes historical memories, a meeting point for people and cultures, a readable area.
Eleftheria walked on the streets of the historical district and met not just a unique architectural place, with main characteristic the Bauhaus inspired buildings, but also its locals.
In this once everchanging community, our partner started an ongoing dialogue through her lenses. She tried, as if she was a visitor in her own city, to track down the historical entanglement of fixed temporal strata that is reflected on buildings, on the structure of the neighborhoods and on its residents. The images she gathered became the vehicle for the creation of two poetic films, that mainly focus on the deep interaction between space and man, city and resident, external environment and internal identity. Her creations found their place in a group short film, that was presented at the outdoor theater of the Mploko Dourgouti square on the opening day of the exhibition and received positive reviews. Along with Elefteria’s work, photographs of the workshop were displayed in the shop windows at Fanosthenous and Sfiggos street.
A big thumbs up for Eleutheria Katsianou, "good luck" and good continuity in her film career.
