A young couple envisioned the concept of a two-storey loft, which would be the key feature of their apartment. The owners had a semi-finished apartment on a privately owned roof terrace in downtown Athens. Since they could raise its height due to coverage ratio, our proposal was to create a new space on the 3rd level of the building. To complete the unfinished construction and add height, we had to work with a metal frame on a grid that resulted from the separation of the existing structural elements. The owners' desire to have their apartment cut off from the rest of the building and the shared stairway, it was of great importance for our architectural approach. For this reason, we worked with small openings on the long sides where there was a need for light and created a large glass surface along the length and width of the narrow side, where the view of the city is practically present. “White Box Layers” has an elevator bedroom, a complete kitchen, storage layers, a spacious bathroom - all within 65 square meters. The clever design of the space, aiming at maximum efficiency, makes this loft the perfect choice for someone who wants to stay for a few days or even a few months, just like their owners who spend most of their time abroad.
